Control over every
material certificate.

Metal wholesalers and manufacturers rely on Verinor to automate material certificates and all other supplier and customer documentation — faster flows, fewer errors and full control for the quality manager. With digital product passports (DPP) built in from the start.

Your quality manager gets real-time status and control — not a manual PDF hunt before every audit.

Material certificates are still handled by hand.

Every delivery of steel and metal comes with a material certificate (EN 10204). Today they are entered manually, checked by hand against requirements and grades, and copied on into customer documentation. It is a legal requirement, time-consuming and error-prone — and the errors always look small until they don't:

  • A misread carbon value — the certificate is approved although the chemistry is outside the grade's limit. Discovered at your customer's audit, not at your inspection.
  • The wrong edition of the standard — the certificate cites EN 10088-2:2014, your requirements assume the 2024 edition. The values are compared against the wrong table.
  • A missing certificate nobody chases — the delivery is received, the hold is released, and three months later the end customer demands documentation that never arrived.
  • A heat number that doesn't match — the certificate covers a different heat than the one in stock. Traceability is broken without anyone noticing.

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone — this is everyday life in most quality functions. A single missed deviation can mean a rejected delivery, an audit finding or a recall — and the cost always lands downstream, where it is largest.

An AI platform that reads, validates and delivers.

01

Read in

Material certificates — and every other supplier document: inspection reports, declarations, test certificates — are captured automatically from email, folders and your ERP, and structured with AI.

02

Validate & flag

Certificates are validated against limit values per grade, product form and standard; every other document type against its requirement profile — and deviations are flagged. You confirm.

03

Deliver

Outgoing customer documentation — certificates, declarations, the whole package — is generated automatically, traceably, with a digital product passport per delivery.

Verinor is the intelligence layer — we flag what needs attention. Your quality function owns the signature. We don't replace the certifier; we make the inspection fast, complete and traceable.

One certificate. Every value checked.

This is what an incoming 3.1 certificate looks like through Verinor's eyes — every extracted value is validated against the standard's limit values and your own requirements.

Do the math

A company with 50–100 employees typically spends 0.5–1.5 full-time roles handling incoming and outgoing material documentation by hand — SEK 400,000–1,000,000 per year in pure working time.

200 certs/month × 15 min/cert × SEK 450/h ≈ SEK 270,000/year — just in entry and checking, before the cost of missed errors.

Against Standard from SEK 5,000/month, the payback period is measured in weeks, not years — and the math is proven with your own hours during the pilot.

With your numbers

hours/year freed up
SEK/year in working time
× ROI vs Standard SEK 5,000/month

Conservatively assumes 80% of the time is automated. The ROI figure is calculated against Standard's entry level of SEK 5,000/month — if your company sits higher in the size ladder, the figure is correspondingly lower. The cost of missed errors (rejected deliveries, audit findings) comes on top. Calculate freely — no email required.

From administrator to strategist.

Today the quality role is consumed by administration: entering values, chasing suppliers, digging through binders before audits. It is work that demands accuracy — but not your judgment. Verinor takes the repetitive part; your time moves to what actually requires a quality manager:

  • The decisions, not the data entry. The AI reads and checks everything — you spend your time on the flagged deviations, the parts of the documents where your judgment decides.
  • Supplier quality over time. Who delivers clean, who gets flagged often, where does the risk sit? Data you never had time to compile — now a dashboard.
  • The requirement profile towards your customers. Time to work proactively with requirement matrices, tolerances and your customers' real needs — instead of reactively putting out fires.
  • Always audit-ready. Traceability is built automatically in the flow. The audit becomes a viewing, not a project.

With real-time status across the whole document and material flow, quality becomes a visible function in the boardroom — not a binder in the archive.

Briefly, how it works.

Does Verinor replace our quality manager or certifier?

No — the opposite: Verinor makes the quality role more important. We read, validate and flag; your quality function owns the approval — that decision requires their judgment and mandate, and it should. The difference is what their time goes to: instead of data entry and binder hunts, they work on the decisions, the supplier risk and the requirement profile — with complete evidence for every call. Verinor is the intelligence layer that makes inspection fast, complete and traceable — the quality manager becomes the strategist, not the administrator.

Which standards are supported?

Certificates & content: EN 10204 (type 2.1 / 2.2 / 3.1 / 3.2) and EN 10168 (the certificate's field structure).

The database today: 280 material designations · 193 aliases (UNS/JIS/ASTM/GB etc.) · 3,800+ threshold values for chemistry and mechanics, spread across 94 standards with chemistry limits and 101 with mechanical limits.

Limit-value validation per grade, product form and edition — standards with limit values loaded:

European: EN 10025 (structural steel S235–S960) · EN 10088 (stainless) · EN 10216 (seamless tubes) · EN 10028 (pressure vessel plate) · EN 10083 (quenched & tempered steel) · EN 10210-1 (hollow sections) · EN 573-3 & EN 755-2 (aluminium).
ASTM: A240, A276, A312, A351, A995 (stainless plate/bar/pipe/castings) · A105, A350 (flanges & forgings).
International: JIS G3101, G3106, G4303/G4304/G4305 · GB/T 1591, GB/T 700 · IS 2062 · KS D 3503 · API 5L · NORSOK M-630.

Edition-aware: certificates are validated against the edition the certificate actually cites — including older and superseded editions. Framework context: EN 1090 (DoP/CE) and PED.

Limit-value coverage is expanded continuously — grades and standards are prioritized by our customers' real certificate flows, and if your grade is missing, the limit values are added within a few working days. We review your actual grades before onboarding, so coverage is in place when the flow starts.

Does it require a long integration?

No. Verinor connects to your ERP two-way — and you see first results on your own certificates within 48 hours, without months of project work.

What happens with uncertain readings — can we trust the AI from day one?

Standard includes a managed onboarding: Verinor's specialists review the certificates behind the AI — we review the technical side, you make the decisions. Everything that requires your knowledge of your customers and requirements (accepting a deviation, releasing material) always stays with you. Automation is extended step by step as each combination of grade, standard and certificate layout proves itself — and we report continuously on which ones have graduated. In Basic, and after onboarding, low-confidence readings are flagged for your confirmation: the AI does the heavy lifting, a human confirms the uncertain.

Where is the data stored — and do we own it?

Azure EU-hosted — runs in Microsoft's secured environment, EU region, GDPR-compliant. You own your data, no lock-in, export whenever you want. For strict security requirements: BYOK — you own the encryption key in your own Azure; pull it and the data becomes unreadable to everyone but you. Retention policies let you control the lifespan.

And straight about the AI: your documents are never shared with other customers and are never sent to external AI providers for model training. What you confirm and correct in Verinor does, however, make the validation sharper — for you and for the platform; that is how the system learns. Industry-wide, anonymized comparisons are always an active choice you make, never something that happens in the background.

Do our suppliers have to join or change anything?

No — nothing. Verinor works with the certificates you already receive, exactly as they look today: PDFs by email, scanned paper, supplier portals. No supplier has to join a platform, enter data or change how they work. You get full value on day one, on your own — unlike network solutions where the benefit waits for both sides to sign up.

Can Verinor handle scanned, photographed and older certificates?

Yes. The AI reads scanned PDFs, photos and older layouts — not just digital originals. Certificates with several heats on the same document are handled, and each heat is linked to the right delivery.

Can we load our historical archive?

Yes. Existing binders and folders of old certificates can be batch-read so the whole archive becomes searchable and traceable — not just new deliveries. Historical ingestion is quoted separately by volume. A good starting point: the last 12 months.

How does the ERP integration work in practice?

Verinor reads purchase orders, items and suppliers from your ERP and writes document status back — two-way, turnkey, without your own integration project. Monitor is turnkey today; more systems are built per customer following the same pattern — in weeks, not months. The implementation is done by us at a fixed quoted price — from SEK 25,000, including adapting the interface to your process.

Can we build our own interface or fetch data via API?

Yes. Standard includes API access to your own data (documents, extracted values, validation history) and to the verdicts — so you can display everything in your own portals, dashboards or BI tools. Your interface, your choice. Two things apply: every verdict always carries a Verinor verification ID (so it can be checked and not forged, wherever it is shown), and the standards limit-value database is never exposed in raw form — values are delivered inside verdicts with a standard reference.

What does it require from our IT department?

Basic: nothing — forward an email address or point at a folder, done in minutes. Standard: we set up the ERP connection; your IT approves the access. No server, no installation, no clients to maintain.

What happens if we cancel?

3-month rolling contract — no lock-in period, no exit fees. All your data (documents, extracted values, validation history) is exported in open formats. Leaving should be easy; that is why customers stay for the right reasons.

Which languages does Verinor read?

Certificates in Swedish, English, German and other European languages are read directly — mill certificates are multilingual in practice and the AI is language-independent. The interface is in Swedish and English.

What is a DPP — and how does Verinor help us?

Digital product passports (DPP) are introduced through the EU's ESPR regulation (Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, in force since 2024). Steel and iron are among the prioritized product categories — the requirement rolls out through delegated acts over the coming years. A product passport must carry machine-readable data on, among other things, material composition, origin and traceability through the chain.

That is exactly the data Verinor already structures in the daily flow: chemistry and mechanics per heat (from the certificates), mill/origin, heat traceability from supplier to customer delivery, and the certificates themselves as evidence. Verinor generates the passport per item and heat from that data — machine-readable, shareable with your customers, with the full chain behind every value. You don't need a separate DPP project: the document flow you are automating anyway is the DPP foundation.

We have our own requirements beyond the standard — can you handle that?

Yes, that is the core — in Standard, Verinor validates against your actual requirement profile, not just the standard's table.

In Basic, every certificate is validated against the standard's limit values per grade, product form and edition — deviations are flagged, you confirm.

In Standard, you add your own requirement profile on top: minimum certificate type per supplier ("from X we always require 3.1"), tightened tolerances ("S ≤ 0.010 on all 1.4404 — even where the standard allows more"), formal requirements (heat number, complete chemistry, signature), review mode per supplier — and requirement matrices per customer, order and item (fetched from your ERP) applied automatically on every delivery, plus active monitoring of documents that should have arrived but haven't.
